THE BEST PLACES TO BUY ARTIFICIAL GREENERY

Confession time: I have a black thumb.

I think it started in high school. I bought a tiny bamboo plant from the flea market near my house and promptly forgot that it existed. A few weeks later it had already withered and died and I hadn’t remembered to water it once. Oops!

It hasn’t gotten much better since then. I remember when the succulent craze got really popular, I was so excited. Finally, a plant that everyone said I couldn’t kill! Well, it turns out you actually CAN kill a succulent. After about my fifth sad, shriveled succulent, I finally admitted defeat. Thankfully, over the years I’ve been able to find several places where I can buy convincing artificial greenery that isn’t lime green and extremely fake looking. Read on to find out how I was able to keep my home looking happy and full of life without murdering more succulents!

IKEA

I know that for a lot of people, IKEA conjures up images of tiny couches, cheap-looking dressers, and relationships being tested over curtain rods and closet organizers. However, I’ve found that if you know what to look for, IKEA can be an amazing place to shop for home decor! IKEA is one of few places I’ve found that have truly affordable artificial greenery that looks almost as good as the real thing.

My top IKEA picks:

Artificial eucalyptus – $4.99 (This is my favorite – I have two stems on my mantle, two on the guest room nightstand, and two on Darian’s nightstand!)

Artificial potted plant with pot – $1.99

Artificial succulent – $4.99

WORLD MARKET

You have not truly lived until you’ve been to World Market. I didn’t discover it until I moved to the Northern Virginia area, but I am now OBSESSED. They sell amazing home decor, much if which is very reasonably priced, but they also sell international foods, cool gifts, and alcohol! It’s basically my dream store. Anyways, World Market has some great little artificial plants that could easily brighten up any room. They are on the pricier side compared to some others that I’ve linked, but they’re worth it! Just a warning – not all of their artificial plants are as realistic looking as you might want them to be, so make sure you carefully examine them to find the best ones.

My top World Market picks:

Faux Fiddle Leaf Fig Plant – $129.99

Faux Eucalyptus Spray – $7.99

Faux Succulents in Etched Cement Pots Set of 3 – $29.97 (you can also buy these individually in-store for just $9.99 each)

TARGET

I mean, do I even need to explain this one? Target is amazing and if I could live there, I would. Their artificial greenery section is definitely hit-or-miss in-store, but you can find tons of options online!

My top Target picks:

Faux Eucalyptus in Terra Cotta Pot – $24.99

18″ Potted Aloe Vera – $24.99

Faux Eucalyptus Stem – $3.99 & up

MICHAELS

Michaels is hands down the MOST underrated decor store out there! Forget everything you thought you knew about it just being a craft store – Michaels is so much more. Also, if you aren’t using the Michaels app, stop what you’re doing and download it immediately, because it’s actually the best thing ever. The Michaels app has new coupons every day, and I never buy anything unless it’s on major sale or I have a 40% off coupon! You can save TONS of money by using coupons at Michaels, and they have a vast faux plant section with tons of great options.

My top Michaels picks:

I’m not going to link my top picks here because it’s rather difficult to shop for greenery online at Michaels, but I highly encourage checking out your local store. They have tons of cute faux succulents, aloe vera, and stems for under $10 (and even cheaper with a coupon!)

HOMEGOODS

I definitely saved the best for last here – Homegoods is my favorite place in the world. Their deals are just unbeatable and the quality of their products is so wonderful (especially for the price). I’ve had great luck finding all types of greenery at Homegoods. I really like that they often come in beautiful pots, and many of their choices are extremely realistic!

My top Homegoods picks:

Any Homegoods aficianado knows that sadly, online shopping isn’t available with Homegoods, so I’m unable to link any top picks. I strongly recommend checking out your local Homegoods store for options, though!

If you have a black thumb – you’re not alone! I hope this post inspires you to not give up on your dream of a beautiful home filled with greenery. There are tons of affordable and tasteful options at your fingertips, so check out the stores above! Do you buy your artificial greenery at a store that I didn’t mention? Let me know in the comments!
